I love any excuse to be outside this time of year. You cannot beat the weather in Southern Utah in the springtime.
Yesterday, my friend and her darling family *and their goats* invited us on an adventure to see the Vortex. The vortex is a massive sandstone bowl with surprisingly steep and deep sides and its something you need to put on your list to see while in Southern Utah.
This hike is near Dammeron Valley off highway 18 – its roughly a 35 minute drive north from St. George. You can find directions to the trial head here.
The hike is kid friendly and goat or dog friendly 😉 Once you reach the vortex, the 360 views of the area are GORGEOUS. The hike is hugely popular so you it won’t be a crowded, just make sure to bring water because there is zero water source up there.
You can find more info on the hike here.
